At KD Strategies, responsible and sustainable socio-economic development is at the core of our existence. We are working to create a more welcoming future for our children, and as such we currently support SED initiatives in the following categories:
• Food Security
We work with selected projects for a minimum 24-month period – to ensure project sustainability.
For the 2020 intake – our contributions will focus on the support of Early Childhood Development centres in peri-urban areas.
We believe that children in the foundation-phase need to have access to the required resources in order to stimulate their neural-pathways and aide in their discovery of the world. In order to facilitate same, we believe that it is imperative that ECD centres have access to:
• Age-appropriate books
• Safe Play areas
• Sensory-stimulating equipment
It is also imperative that the caregivers, teachers and assistants are properly equipped to deal with their responsibility. As such we aim to ensure that the adults in these environments have access to the resources and skills development required to ensure that they are fully equipped.
We believe that access to basic wellness information and general healthcare is imperative. We look to facilitate access to regular medical checks, and the required preventative and wellness screenings for the children and their caregivers at the ECD centres.
We also look to support alternative healthcare programmes within the communities in which we work.
Access to the appropriate quantity and quality for food is critical in the learning and development process – we aim to implement organic, nutritionally dense, fruit and vegetable gardens in the vicinity of all our ECD centres to ensure that the children and their caregivers have a source of quality nutrition.
We also look to support local community-based food projects.
We believe that children respond directly to the environment in which they are raised. We strive to clean-up the environments in which we work – through the implementation of recycling programmes, community greening initiatives, and solar energy projects.
All client contributions are channeled via the KDS Foundation, to the intended projects.
In addition to the above, KD Strategies contributes 5% of all revenue earned, and 30% of profits, to the KDS Foundation.
The Foundation was established with the sole intention of investing in socio-economic development projects that are going to shift the foundations of the social economy in South Africa.
